Today, Adobe AIR officially launched.  I noticed some bloggers comparing AIR to Microsoft Silverlight - I think they are fundamentally different.  Silverlight is a browser plug-in and Redmond’s answer to Flash.  Adobe AIR, on the other hand, is a desktop runtime environment and Adobe’s attempt to win the platform war.
